Mandate

To coordinate environmental, physical and socio-economic planning in order to attain coordinated development in the District.

Socio-economic Planning unit

Socio-Economic Planning unit focuses on the implementation of programmes aimed at improving the quality of life of communities in the district. It conducts capacity building of community members in order to enhance their participation in development programs. The unit also conducts research on prevailing socioeconomic issues in order to recommend appropriate interventions. Under this section falls the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which is a critical component aimed at financing community-driven projects to enhance local infrastructure, empower small businesses, and improve access to essential services. this section is also responsible for forward planning, budgeting systems, project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, and development control. The section is also responsible for coordinating disaster management and mitigation in the district

Physical Planning Unit

Physical planning unit is responsible for land management in the district. This includes preparation of enforcement notices for illegal developments, development of local area plans, landuse plans, numbering and demarcation of land.  it also oversees preparation and implementation of Integrated Development Plans which are strategic planning documents that guide the development of an area and use of scarce resources.
