COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON CALLS FOR COLLABORATION BETWEEN LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND DEVOLVED DEPARTMENTS

Mwansabombwe Town Council Chairperson Terrioh Chungu has called for strong collaboration between the local authority and all devolved departments.
Speaking when he officially opened the fourth quarter ordinary council meeting held at the community hall, Mr. Chungu said working together as a family with a shared purpose, mutual respect and common vision will help to develop the district.
He said development can only be achieved by putting aside institutional boundaries and embracing unity of purpose.
Mr. Chungu said the local authority has so far recorded remarkable development across all components ranging from infrastructure development to empowerment.
Under infrastructure development, Mr. Chungu mentioned the construction of classroom blocks, maternity annexes, ablution facilities, staff houses and other public infrastructure.
And the council chair said many cooperatives and small-scale entrepreneurs have benefited from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) loans and grants.
Mr. Chungu said the empowerment has enabled a number of beneficiaries engage in agriculture activities, business activities, fishing and other income generating ventures which is contributing to local economic development.
He further said the skills development component has continued to transform the lives of the local people through the provision of bursaries and skills training for many youths and women.
Mr. Chungu also thanked the traditional leaders for the valuable role they play in supporting development and social cohesion.
